Public Eye, one year in
What we’ve learned from our own full scale rebrand
This week marks one year since Bamff switched over to Public Eye. We’re proud of the changes we’ve made to the business over the last few years but this one was a true effort. It also puts us in the mindset of our clients in a way that we’ve never experienced before – we now know first-hand the excitement, challenges and fears that come along with big changes and brave transformations. And we understand how many moving parts it takes in the shadows to make a transformation occur. Everything from the big reveal to realizing all your google docs live in the old google workspace account and need to be moved over (we’re still working on that). But there’s a few more things we’ve learned along the way that has helped us build more connection with our clients:
Big lightswitch brand reveals hit harder than soft launches.
It sounds obvious. We used to let clients ease into a launch. Now, we push for bold. Because when the lights flip on all at once, people notice. A soft launch where each element is slowly turning over you miss the opportunity to celebrate what an incredible milestone a new leaf can be. It rallies your customers, staff, and partners together to talk about how great you are. Plus it feels like graduation day. You’ve done the work, now sit back and reap the rewards.
The why is more important than the what.
We did so much more time on the vision of our company than what it looked like. Of course, the visual of the brand came easy to us (it’s a muscle memory at this point) but we had never actually sat down and hammered out the foundation of the brand (our purpose, our values) in a way that we felt confident enough to share. And because it’s so difficult to work in a silo, we hired Marrow to help us with that work. So now it not only looks like us, it feels like us too.
Keep your eye on the prize.
Okay you’ve launched–now what? Expect a major visibility boost but keep coming back to why you launched in the first place. Strategically, this is an important time to keep going, and stay focused on the long game. It can feel business as usual but you’ve got a solid foundation and have hopefully solved some key frictions.
So yeah, one year in and it feels like yesterday. Over the course of this process we haven't changed who we are – just added more strategy, depth, and understanding.
